Ausar Stewart

Ausar Stewart is an international teaching artist currently based in Toronto and Pittsburgh, U.S.A. He serves as Professor of Voice and Acting at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama, where his teaching is known for its heart-centered, pragmatic approach. Ausar cultivates a dynamic, empowering learning environment where actors unlock their hidden talents and step into new levels of confidence, creativity, and presence.

A passionate innovator, Ausar has designed two groundbreaking courses at Carnegie Mellon:

  • The Actor as Artist – a transformational curriculum exploring the artist’s role as seeker, teacher, healer, and leader, emphasizing personal and spiritual growth through creative practice.

  • Voice for the Camera – a senior-level acting course integrating the vocal methodologies of Canadian voice coach Joy Juckes, adapted specifically for on-camera performance.

His commitment to both process and outcome also informs his work as a director. His productions at Carnegie Mellon, including Dominique Morisseau’s Blood at the Root and Christopher Chen’s Passage, have resonated deeply with audiences, showcasing his talent for merging emotional depth with thoughtful innovation.

Ausar's recent coaching credits span some of the most prestigious stages in Canada, including:
